There are plenty of journals going around with wishes of "Merry Christmas," "Happy Holidays," and endless wishes of good cheer and spiked eggnog. Possibly, if the writer considers herself open-minded, she'll include a brief mention of Hannukah- just like the 5-second blurb of "I Had A Little Dreidel" you hear in Christmas medleys. I've carolled myself hoarse and baked more cookies than Nestlé on a slow day, and I'm only in the festivities because my family roped me in. So I hereby proclaim: forget Christmas. If you're not sick of merchandise and institutionalized, homogenized, manufactured good cheer, then you're inhuman. Enjoy your Kwaanza,

Due to events beyond my control, I now have both a relative abundance of free time and an abject dearth of creativity. To make sure I do more than sit around all winter, I'm starting the 100 themes, and will use this journal to keep track of the ones I've completed.

I'm less than 1,500 words into my NaNoWriMo novel (which will never see the light of day until I go over the finished copy with the editorial equivalent of a weed-whacker) and somehow, I've already gotten lost. I'm the only person I know who second-guesses every word she types before and after it appears onscreen.
